Read some facts here that may change your opinion about badminton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Fastest racket sport in the world<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Badminton is the fastest racquet sport in the world, with shuttles reaching speeds of up to 320 kilometres per hour. Mads Pieler Kolding from Denmark holds the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/world-records\/fastest-badminton-hit-in-competition-(male)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">record for the fastest badminton<\/a> hit in a match, hitting a speed of 426 km\/h during the 2017 Badminton Premier League match in Bangalore, India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fastest smash ever recorded is 493 km\/h, hit by Tan Boon Heong. This smash is also included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/world-records\/92507-fastest-badminton-hit-male\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Guinness World Records<\/a> archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UPDATE<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/en\/news\/fastest-badminton-smash-hit-satwiksairaj-rankireddy-india-guinness-world-record\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In April 2023, the record was broken<\/a>! Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (India) hit a smash of 565 km\/h. He broke the ten-year-old record. Before that, it was only a demonstration sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2>Light weight shuttlecock<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The shuttlecock used in a game of badminton weighs about five grams and is one of the lightest sporting equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2>Badminton vs. Tennis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Badminton is a very intensive sport, more intensive than tennis for example. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/badminton\/10-facts-about-badminton-that-will-blow-your-mind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A comparison<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1985 during the All England Tennis Championships Boris Becker played against Kevin Curren.
