Volunteers

Volunteers are important to our club. Without volunteers, much less would be possible during game nights and youth training. Our volunteers at the youth training are in possession of a VOG (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag). There is also an admission policy and code of conduct that a volunteer must take into account.

Hiring policy

You can’t recognise a perpetrator of transgressive behavior by their appearance. They are often nice and popular people who manage to make themselves indispensable in a short time. They seek out situations in which they can easily come into contact with vulnerable people. Think of minors and people with a mental disability. In doing so, they take advantage of the trust of an organisation.

A good hiring policy can prevent serious problems. By having a hiring policy, people with bad intentions will be more likely to be deterred from fulfilling a position within our association. That is why we go through one or more of the steps below with new volunteers:

  • Having an introductory meeting;
  • Reference check: contact is made with a (possibly) previous association from which the volunteer comes;
  • Our association requests a VOG. This is repeated every 3 years;
  • The volunteer becomes a member of the association or signs a VOT (Declaration of Subjection to Disciplinary Law). This means that the supervisor falls under the disciplinary law of the association and is aware of it.
  • The volunteer is informed of the code of conduct.

Code of conduct for trainers/coaches and supervisors

Are you, as a trainer, aware that you are an important factor in the culture within the club? You have the responsibility to create the safest possible environment for your athletes and your team, where everyone can be themselves, at their own level. Therefore, set a good example and apply these rules of conduct (Dutch).
